Q&A with Logan

To get to know Logan better, we asked him four questions about his career journey and what he looks forward to as he begins his new role with LSI.

How did your professional journey bring you to LSI?

When I was considering a new career opportunity, there were certain criteria that were ‘must haves’ in a potential company. At the top of this list were Culture, Capability, and Coverage.

  • The culture at LSI aligns perfectly with what I was seeking. They foster personal and professional development while encouraging relationships with colleagues and clients that extend beyond strictly business.
  • Capability was a critical consideration because in any service industry, quality of service is the main factor for success. LSI employs a deep and talented pool of engineers and technicians, proficient in nearly every area of controls and automation. This talent empowers LSI to provide high-quality deliverables for every project.
  • Coverage – or an indicator for a company’s ability to own the full scope of services required for successful automation and integration projects – was also important. LSI not only delivers automation services, but also Process and Mechanical Engineering and fabrication, Electrical Engineering and panel fabrication, project and construction management, and operational intelligence services. This breadth of offerings allows them to own the full scope of a project, ensuring consistency and maximum value for their clients.

What are you looking forward to the most in your new role at LSI?

I’m eager to learn from the exceptionally talented team at LSI and collaborate on high-value solutions to complex manufacturing challenges. With such diverse industry expertise, I am really excited to learn about industries that I have not had the opportunity to focus on in the past. This will allow me to not only progress as a professional but also leverage my experience to add value to these industries as well.

What trends in your field are you most excited about?

Technology is evolving at such a rapid pace in our world, and sometimes it can feel like manufacturing is living a bit in the past. However, many manufacturers are starting to make strides towards adopting new tools and architectures that will allow them to capitalize on the value of modern technologies. Today, data is one of the most valuable assets for manufacturers. Converting this data into information to improve decision making (either for optimization, waste reduction, quality improvement, agility, or improving safety) is a huge passion of mine. Whether it’s as simple as data visualization or as complex as generative AI implementations, helping our clients improve their operations through data is really exciting, and modern technologies are making this more feasible for everyone.

Outside of engineering, what do you enjoy doing in your free time? Any favorite hobbies or interests?

Outside of work (and tinkering with home automation) I spend most of my free time with my wife, 2-year-old daughter, and our golden retriever. I enjoy park outings, hiking in the mountains, and spending time at the beach or on the water.
