How long have you been with LSI?
7 years
Describe your current role and experience at LSI.
I am a Senior Controls Engineer, primarily embedded at a client brewery, where I work on electrical/controls design and programming of Rockwell Automation, brewmaxx, and DeltaV systems for utility and process projects.
Where did you go to college?
University of Connecticut
What industries have you been involved in?
I started my career as a Civil Engineer working on water and wastewater projects. Ten years ago, I transitioned to controls engineering full-time. Since then, I’ve worked in water/wastewater, waste treatment, mining, food and beverage, dairy, brewing, and energy industries.
Tell us about a project success story that you are proud of.
Our team recently completed a multi-year project migrating a large PLC5 system to ControlLogix with brewmaxx. This was the first deployment of brewmaxx at the site, so it involved a learning curve for everyone involved. In the end, we delivered a great outcome for the client. The scale and length of the project made for a very collaborative team effort where each person developed a niche. It was rewarding to see all the different pieces come together during startups. Read more about this project here.
What do you think is unique about LSI?
A culture of self-starting and responsibility. LSI hires the best people and enables them to execute great work.
What advice do you have for aspiring engineers?
The startup and commissioning phases of projects can be very difficult and very rewarding. Important skills and meaningful relationships are forged during those long days. Seek them out and embrace the challenge.
What is your favorite vacation spot?
Cape Cod Massachusetts. It was a special vacation spot for me as a kid that I am now reliving with my 2 young daughters.
Do you have any hobbies or random facts about yourself that you could share with us?
I enjoy skiing, whitewater rafting, biking, and running in my free time. I have spent the night inside the crater of an active volcano (Mount Rainier) and have skied from the summit of ten Colorado 14ers.
I also recently led a 15-day whitewater rafting trip 280 miles through the Grand Canyon. It was an amazing trip!
