Meet Brett Ziehl, a Senior Process Technical Lead / Project Manager based in our office near Toronto, Ontario. He’s been with LSI since 2021, continuously bringing value to our clients through his deep knowledge of process design and definition. What is your role at LSI?
I’m a Senior Process Technical Lead / Project Manager focused on the front-end process design of our projects. My responsibilities include developing P&IDs, sizing and specifying equipment, estimating capital costs, and creating project schedules.
Where did you go to college?
University of Natal, South Africa, and Heriot-Watt University, Scotland.
What industries have you been involved in?
Brewing, distilling, biofuels, and food and beverage.
What is your area of expertise?
Brewing and beverage processes. Most of my experience is in designing, installing, and commissioning processes in brewing and distilling. Prior to joining LSI, I was Senior Project Manager of Brewing at Molson Coors Canada, where I led the brewing design and build of a modern greenfield brewery in British Columbia. I’ve also spent a number of years in R&D developing new products and processes. I have worked in many countries around the world.
Tell us about a project success story that you are proud of.
We were working with a client on a membrane separation skid when they experienced performance issues with the equipment. Despite efforts from the supplier, the issues remained. LSI investigated the equipment in detail and successfully resolved the issues by replacing parts of the skid and optimizing the performance to meet process requirements. This was a proud moment, enabling the project to continue and building customer trust and satisfaction

Any place that has a beautiful beach with a sea warm enough to swim in.
